Match Report
Taunton School Boys-U15B (JCB) vs  Sherborne School
On: Saturday, 07 Oct 2023
Venue: Away

The U15 B team arrived at Sherborne perhaps a little undercooked, with house cross country having robbed us of our Thursday run through. But the boys started well, with quick ball off the floor and heavy tackling, particularly from the likes of Maynard and Rampaul. A spell of pressure in the opposition 22 yielded a try for Maynard, which he then converted. Not long after, Rampaul stole the ball at the back of a maul and delivered a beautiful pass to Dovey C, who cut inside and finished with aplomb in the corner, though no extras could be added. After this it was all Sherborne as Taunton’s tackling deserted them. Six pairs of flailing arms and Sherborne were under the posts. But Taunton held firm and led until the last 10 minutes. Sherborne drew level in the corner and missed the conversion before Taunton appeared to forget the rules of Rugby, offside penalties and ball killing becoming an unwanted feature. Two of these penalties were eminently kickable and so it proved. The boys were a little too polite on the ground as the game wore on and were perhaps fortunate to lead for so long. A scare for Sherborne and one that got away for the red and blue.
